Open house for foreclosure prevention
A foreclosure prevention event for homeowners will be held next Friday, Aug. 28 at the Wilmington City Building. The open house type event will be from noon to 7 p.m. Aug. 28. During those hours, homeowners will have the opportunity to speak directly about their options with area lenders, regional credit counselors and nationwide lenders and servicers.
In addition to the open house, two presentations will be given at noon and 6 p.m. by a Freddie Mac representative. Persons who plan to attend are asked to bring the following documents: current pay stubs (within the past 30 days), 2007 and 2008 income tax returns, three months of bank statements, household expense budget, a copy of closing documents and the most recent correspondence from their mortgage company, and the most recent property insurance and mortgage statements.
Also, staff from the Wilmington office of the Ohio Benefit Bank will be on hand throughout the afternoon and will conduct free screenings to help people discover which government aid programs they’re eligible for. Through the Wilmington Benefit Bank, residents can determine their eligibility for benefits such as health care coverage, home energy assistance, child care subsidies, housing assistance, school lunches and food stamps.
It only takes a few minutes to learn what aid and benefits a person qualifies for. Persons seeking help should bring their driver’s license or ID card, Social Security number, and birth certificate if they have one.
The Wilmington City Building is located at 69 N. South St. in downtown Wilmington.
